About Us
Welcome to He Ye Zhai
Established in 2013, 龢樂斋 (pronounced as ‘He Yue Zhai’) is a leading Guqin music and arts centre that aims to bring people together to explore the wonders of traditional Chinese culture.
We are one of the largest Guqin training institutes in Singapore and have trained more than hundreds of students. In addition to Guqin, we also offer Dizi, Xiao, Vocal, and tea appreciation classes to enhance our students’ learning experience of Chinese culture.
Our centre actively champions the appreciation of traditional Chinese music and has collaborated with world-renowned arts and cultural organisations to develop a growing love for Guqin in Singapore.
Amidst the hustle and bustle in our world today, we hope you will find time to visit us and begin a journey of self-discovery that is capable of bringing harmony and joy.
In June 2023, our branch 无名 (Wu Ming) was set up and located at Duxton Rd where one can play Guqin, appreciate tea, and do calligraphy leisurely.
In December 2023, the Shanghai branch commenced its Guqin Entry group course at the Shanghai Mingyuan Villa.
In January 2025, the Shanghai Xinhua Road classroom started its operations as well.

- Every year, we invite our students to join us in a specially curated learning journey to China, the birthplace of Guqin. These one-of-a-kind journeys are designed to be authentic and engaging. We hope to encourage our students to enrich their sense of self by stepping out of their comfort zone.
- Our centre also organises the Singapore Guqin Arts Festival, a biannual cultural event that provides the opportunity for local and overseas Guqin aficionados to gather and foster exchanges through a common interest. This festival is also developed to provide promising students a platform to showcase their talents.
- Through our active partnerships and network, we are able to invite famous Guqin masters to our centre to hold masterclasses. Students will have the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with these experts.
